A Unique Childhood
While swapping stories in the house, Jason opened up to Ashley about a massive shift in his family dynamic that occurred right as he was leaving for high school, when his parents decided to open their doors to fostering.
Jason: They started fostering kids. That way they can stay at the house... My little sister ended up growing up with a bunch of foster kids. So I feel bad that my little sister didn't get the childhood that, like, me and my brother had.
Jason admitted that the constant rotation of new faces was tough on his sister, but praised his parents' incredible capacity for care. He noted that they ultimately adopted three of the foster children, watching them grow all the way through high school graduation. "It's like their job is to be parents," Jason reflected. "They're so good at it."
Reverting to 18
The conversation turned even more vulnerable as Jason shared how the loss of his mother completely upended his father's life, causing him to emotionally regress to the age when his parents first fell in love.
Jason: That's why when my mom died, my dad is kind of lost. And now he's reverted... they met when they're 18. And my dad was like a horny macho guy, you know what I mean? So when they met, they were locked. But now that my mom's not with him anymore, my dad has kind of reverted to being an 18 year old again.
It was a striking, raw live-feed moment of pure vulnerability, proving that despite the chaos of the house, real personal connections are still being forged.
